Welcome to ProGREss 2019!

The European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE) invites you to discuss the actual challenges of geological exploration and to elaborate practical recommendations for the leaders of the world’s oil and gas industry

For the first time the Oil and Gas Exploration Conference will bring together top geology experts and management of Petroleum Companies to solve business problems and exploration solutions.

The speakers are renowned experts and the representatives of related government agencies and of the biggest Russian and international companies.

GENERAL PARTNER

Jean-Jacques Biteau, President EAGE (2017-2019): The ProGREss’19 Conference is an interesting, or one might say, experimental project for us. For the first time, we offer for the discussion by the global geological community the topics that are less connected with scientific and applied research, but rather with the practical challenges that the global economic agenda poses to us — this is the place of geology in the economics of an exploration project, digitalization, venture projects, safe production, etc. Current topics define the way of presenting information. This year we are preparing a lot of interesting, interactive formats aiming to make an active participant out of the listener. I invite everyone to participate in the ProGREss’19 conference. I hope we will manage to create not only a bright, but also really useful event in the world of geological engineering.

Aleksey Vashkevich, Director for technology Development, Gazprom Neft: O&G exploration is the riskiest business of any vertically integrated oil company. At the early stages of exploration the main value center is created - up to 80% by the start of full scale development. Therefore, the sustainability of oil company depends on such criteria as decision making speed and quality, approach to risk, use of digital technologies. I expect that the EAGE “ProGREss” conference will become a platform where we can discuss global trends and problems related to oil industry, exchange practical exploration cases, get feedback from our international colleagues who can already estimate the effect of using flexible approaches to exploration. I invite to the conference all those who are aiming at working in accordance with the best industry practices.

Bram Bruijn, Shell Exploration Manager Russia: Exploration of Oil and Gas is becoming increasingly more difficult as the “easy” hydrocarbons have been mostly found and developed. The challenge for the O/G industry is to find new technologies and innovative ways of working. Integration of explorers with other disciplines (R&D, production, finance) and a full understanding of all the risks, not only in the technical domain, is becoming increasingly more important. In times where the economic returns of new exploration projects may be challenged, quick turnaround time from discovery to first production is essential. I see the EAGE ProGREss’19 conference as a great platform for participants to bring up ideas, discuss, listen and learn from each other. I am looking forward to the event!

Dmitry Bolotnik, Vice-President, PetroTrace: The PetroTrace Geoscience Company is one of the leading Russian independent companies in development of modern technologies and implementation of complex integrated projects, and we regard the problems related to implementation of a wide range of exploration projects as an issue of vital importance. Making modern technologies a part of every -day exploration practices will result in faster growth of explored reserves and facilitate a more rational development of petroleum resources. This conference that brings together some leading Russian and international experts will become a place of fruitful knowledge share and a platform of discussion of a wide spectrum of approaches to implementation of the best exploration practices. We will be proud to participate in this forum and contribute to the knowledge share.

Jarand Rystad, CEO, Rystad Energy: Rystad Energy is one of the most reputable consulting companies in the industry, and I myself plan to take part in ProGREss’ 19 and deliver a few reports. During the event, together with other key players in the exploration market, we will consider the latest worldwide trends in the field, paying special attention to the achievements of big oil & gas companies they have demonstrated in the recent years and analyze their exploration strategies.

Petr Povzhik, Deputy Director General for Geology, Belorusneft: The amount of reserves and their quality is the most important factor for every petroleum-producing region. The main strategic goal of the Belarusneft Company is 100% compensation of depleted oil reserves, which cannot be achieved due to the low efficiency of our exploration works. Participation in this conference will help us adopt the best practices in this field, including such issues as planning field surveys; processing and interpretation of acquired data; detection of oil-bearing structures; planning exploratory wells and solving the whole set of geological problems that may result in discovering of new hydrocarbon deposits and increase the known reserves of Belorussia.
