2nd EAGE Workshop on Quantifying Uncertainty in Depth Imaging
21 - 22 November 2023 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Inaugural EAGE workshop on quantifying uncertainty in Depth imaging took place in April 2021. The workshop brought a diverse collection of technical insight into methods, illuminating case histories and illustrations of workflows that could connect our tools and facilitate the use of uncertainty information.
The second workshop aims to build on the discoveries and alignment provided previously and bring emphasis to the evolution of workflows to carry uncertainty information and use it to facilitate risked decisions at the portfolio level or within the end-to-end workflows of subsurface characterization.
The committee highly encourages contributions demonstrating the use of uncertainty in planning, decision-making, and reservoir management. Ideally such contributions will illustrate of the relevance of geoscience data in the quantification of uncertainty. A key objective of the workshop is to foster fit-for-purpose, linked uncertainty analysis from initial data collection to final decisions and into asset operation. Our ultimate goal is to assist the industry to employ robust comparisons of risk and value more routinely at the portfolio level by illustrating the value of existing workflows and areas where further progress is most needed.
As such, the workshop will further investigate the quantification of uncertainty, the representation of that uncertainty and in particular how the information can be used in all aspects of the subsurface workflows and as an influencer of planning and portfolio decisions.
