3rd EAGE/ SUT Workshop on Integrated Site Characterisation for Offshore Renewable Energy
15-16 October 2025 | Melbourne, Australia
EAGE and the Society for Underwater Technology (via their interest group on Offshore Site Investigation and Geotechnics; OSIG) have jointly planned a global Workshop series titled “Integrated Site Characterization for Offshore Renewable Energy”.
The purpose of this series is to improve integration of geo-disciplines in delivering appropriate and timely Site Characterisation models for Offshore Renewable Energy projects. The importance of multi-disciplinary integration to build strong ground models for the offshore renewable energy industry is increasingly evident, particularly when faced with complex geo-engineering challenges.
The opportunity at a global level is to improve the models delivered through the strength of this integration, which requires cross-disciplinary comprehension and collaboration as well as adherence to relevant sector standards and guidelines.
At the regional, country and state level there are significant differences in government licensing, environmental permitting and fiscal operating regimes. In addition, factors such as the local supply-chain, offshore operational windows, actual ground conditions, technical & cost risk appetite can all influence what the optimal site characterisation plan and timeframe should be for a specific project. The workshop will address these regional contexts and challenges.
The workshop should be of equal interest to developers, contractors, consultants, and academics.
