Details

The GEO4ALL programme represents a transformative step in the Netherlands geothermal energy landscape, uniting 23 partners across the full value chain to address critical technical and economical research questions. This session will explore how GEO4ALL is unlocking the potential of geothermal systems at shallow (300-500m), medium-depth (500-1500m) and conventional depths (1500m), with a focus on enhancing system performance, reducing risks and improving cost-effectiveness. Key themes explored in this session include innovative monitoring of cold front evolution and induced seismicity, key insights into drilling challenges for shallow geothermal, advanced well design for marginal reservoirs and pioneering data-driven approaches to operational efficiency, leveraging real-time analytics and shared performance benchmarks to reduce OPEX and extend asset lifetimes. Through collaborative R&D, field demonstrations, and open-access knowledge sharing, GEO4ALL is building a robust innovation ecosystem that supports safe, scalable and socially accepted geothermal deployment. This session will highlight technical breakthroughs, challenges and lessons already learned in this programme. Attendees will gain insights into how GEO4ALL is advancing geothermal science in the Netherland and offers useful recommendations for sustainable heat solutions for the Netherlands and beyond.
