Standards and guidelines are essential for scaling up geothermal energy in an efficient, responsible, and transparent manner. Developed for different phases of geothermal projects, they provide orientation, support consistent decision-making, and help manage technical and regulatory complexity. This session will shed light on the importance of guidelines and will present two examples of guideline frameworks developed in Europe. A concluding panel discussion will explore how guidelines can support processes throughout the project lifecycle and foster transparent decision-making among developers, operators, investors, insurers, and public authorities.
