TThis beginner-friendly session introduces the fundamentals of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for offshore wind geoscience. It will provide an accessible overview of key methods, terminology, and simple workflows, supported by practical examples from applications such as seabed and subsurface characterisation. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how AI tools can support geoscientific analysis and decision-making, and how to start engaging with these approaches in their own work. The session will introduce: - Some AI/ML basics for OW geoscientists - Some typical workflows associated with various OW applications - Some discussion about understanding models’ limitations, explainability and the quantification of uncertainty.
