Researchers and students from academia in geosciences, data science, and digital applications. Professionals from the geosciences, engineering, and technology in all industries working on carbonate and mixed carbonate systems. Professionals working on technological applications of AI and Data Science Energy professionals in the age of sustainability This workshop is about the state of knowledge, past and present, of carbonates and mixed carbonates systems. This workshop builds on a Cross Regional Symposium on the same topic between the Middle East and Europe in Palermo, Sicily, Italy, in April 2024 organized by the AAPG with EAGE participation. The aim is to build a community of experts and interested young talent nucleating around a series of these symposia/workshops, present and future. We aim to attract the latest advancements in the discipline while strengthening the state of knowledge acquired over the past 75 years, encourage further progress in knowledge going forward, and invite more technological advancement to be applied along this journey. This workshop should attract researchers from academia and all industries that are pushing the frontiers of knowledge in carbonates and mixed carbonate systems and the application of this knowledge into practices in energy and Earth Resource industries in the era of sustainability. The attendees of this workshop are expected to be from multi-disciplines of geosciences and engineering, from academia and industry, and from advanced researchers and students. This will be a one-day workshop on June 1 st, 2025 before the opening of the EAGE Annual Conference, there will be an opening speech by the chairpersons, a series of technical presentations, and a panel discussion. We aim to have interested presenters submit extended abstracts with figures for a compilation of their collective work in a follow-up EAGE publication. We also hope that this workshop is an interim step towards the second Cross-Regional Carbonates and Mixed Carbonate Systems Symposium with direct organization by the EAGE. Sub-Topics that will be covered in the workshop: 1. Advancements in Carbonates Geology from modern and ancient settings 2. Advancements in mixed-carbonate systems from modern and ancient settings 3. Outcrop to subsurface examples 4. A spectrum of industry applications in carbonates and mixed carbonates systems 5. Depositional and diagenetic research advancements 6. Technology applications
