Details
This workshop is timely and coincides with significant interest on the development of Quantitative Ground Models – from acquisition technology to data centric modelling approaches – across industry and academia. Therefore, the workshop will attract a broad spectrum of EAGE attendees, including geologists, geophysicists, and geotechnical engineers. Participants will gain insights and explore current practice and innovative workflows related to UHR seismic elastic inversion, and its application to offshore renewables as part of the energy transition, while providing a unique networking opportunity between seismic acquisition, processing, modelling, and inversion experts. Researchers, practitioners, students, and decision makers interested in better understanding the current progress and challenges of seismic UHR acquisition, processing, elastic inversion, borehole geophysics, and integration with geotechnics for offshore wind farm design.
The objective of this workshop is not to present case studies, but rather to identify best practices, potential pitfalls and causes of uncertainties in the required input data from hands-on experience and lessons learned throughout the industry. This workshop will therefore bring together all parties involved in the development of acquisition technology, processing, and modelling methods for both 2D/3D UHR seismic and in-situ geophysical data (borehole geophysics, seismic CPT) to improve the quality of those data for elastic inversion approaches applied to offshore wind farm geotechnical site characterization.
The workshop will include three technical parts and one panel discussion as follows:
Part 1: 2D/3D UHR seismic acquisition & processing (4 talks)
Part 2: Seismic CPT and Borehole geophysics (3 talks)
Part 3: Seismic inversion (3 talks)
Part 4: Panel discussion: Open floor discussion with 4 industry/academy experts
Sub-Topics that will be covered in the workshop:
Seismic acquisition:
Current seismic acquisition methods: advantages, disadvantages, and challenges
Low environmental impact sources, non-towed streamer solutions, positioning challenges, fibre-optic methods, quest for low frequencies
Seismic processing and imaging:
Ghosts, multiples, statics, velocity, diffractions, interpolation methods, imaging methods, Scholte wave analysis
Borehole geophysics and elastic inversion:
