The Royal Deeside Tour is an amazing day trip; we will travel along the lush Dee Valley, arriving at Ballater, a quaint village where the “Royals do their shopping”! where we can go walkabout or enjoy a tasty treat and coffee, before heading to the world-famous Balmoral Castle & Estates. We can spend some time here soaking up the atmosphere in this idyllic part of the world! No wonder Queen Victoria called it her ‘Dear Paradise’. Probably have a light lunch in the royal café at the castle! Then we travel further west into the stunning Cairngorms National Park, enjoying the Caledonian pine forests and beautiful mountains as we drive, and we arrive at Braemar, a remote village set in the mountains, but has certainly seen some action over the centuries! Here we can learn about the Kings & Queens, the chieftains & clansmen; soldiers and rebels; adventurers and authors all of whom passed through these wild, remote clanlands! Braemar really is steeped in history! After some time spent in Braemar, we can return to Aberdeen with a brief stop at another beautiful, ancient castle, Crathes Castle, where, if we are lucky, we will see some of our cute hairy cows, native to the Highlands!
