A Quantitative Analysis of the Historical Performance of Trinidad and Tobago’s Competitive Bidding Rounds (1995-2025)

Biography

Maryse Jackman is a Geologist I/II employed at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries. She has been working in the Resource Management Division at the Ministry for the last twelve (12) years where she contributes to the strategic development of Trinidad and Tobago’s hydrocarbon resources through technical evaluation and resource assessment. In her role as a geologist, she is responsible conducting geological evaluations of open and idle blocks for the purpose of competitive bid rounds. She is also a member of the core team involved in the planning and execution of said bid rounds. Additionally, she has experience serving on the Technical Working Group of the Technical Evaluation Committees which are responsible for evaluating submitted bids. Beyond her professional responsibilities, Maryse has demonstrated a continuous commitment to industry development and knowledge sharing. She has been an active volunteer with the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) since 2017, serving in various leadership roles on the board until June 2026. Her involvement has includes organizing technical events, supporting young professional development initiatives and fostering collaboration within the energy community. Maryse brings together technical expertise, institutional knowledge and leadership experience in support of the continued growth and sustainability of the energy sector.

Biography

Chris Binter is an Exploration Geoscientist on the Trinidad and Tobago Operations team at ExxonMobil. He received his Bachelors and Masters of Geology from San Diego State University. Chris joined ExxonMobil in 2013. Since then, he has been involved in various projects across the globe, spanning Exploration and Production activities. Geoscience assignments have included U.S. GOM, Equatorial Guinea, Guyana and most recently Trinidad and Tobago. Throughout Chris’s career at ExxonMobil, he has built a breadth of knowledge in regional interpretation, prospect maturation, operations, and seismic processing and reprocessing. He is excited for the opportunity to utilize his skills in his current assignment on the Trinidad and Tobago team. In his free time Chris enjoys traveling with his wife, working on classic cars and spending time with his two dogs, Tank and Georgia.

Biography

Shazana is a PhD candidate in Geoscience at The University of the West Indies (UWI) an holds MSc. in Chemical and Process Engineering with Management. Under the supervision of Professor Oshaine Blake, her doctoral research focuses on geological carbon storage in depleted reservoirs across the Southern Basin of Trinidad. She combines petrophysical, velocity and geochemical evaluations to understand how supercritical carbon dioxide interactions alter the reservoirs. Her work aims to quantify long-term trapping security, support regional decarbonization and apply global best practices to carbon capture and storage (CCS).
