Session Lead: Adriana Citlali Ramirez (Independent) The energy sector still sees a striking gap in women’s representation at the highest levels of technology leadership. At a time when AI, data ecosystems, automation, and agentic systems are reshaping the subsurface and operational landscape, this gap is not only a matter of equity—it is a lost opportunity for innovation and competitiveness, as nearly half of the workforce often remains underutilised or underdeveloped. In this interactive session, we begin with a brief reflection on the current state of women in energy and the near absence of women CTOs across the industry. We will examine how transformational opportunities in technology rarely “find” underrepresented talent on their own—yet they are more accessible, and more urgently needed, than ever. Participants will then work as a group to explore practical pathways for developing the next generation of technology and strategy leaders: identifying barriers, rethinking career narratives, and proposing actions that companies and individuals can take to broaden the leadership pipeline. The discussion will connect directly with the conference’s focus on responsible digital transformation, highlighting why diverse leadership is essential for building trustworthy, impactful, and future-ready solutions. The session welcomes all—women and men, technologists and business leaders—who want to shape a more innovative, resilient, and inclusive digital future for the energy industry.
