The surge in data streams, coupled with enhanced edge computing power and limitations in connectivity bandwidth, is driving the rise of edge computing to manage large datasets on-premises. Once the primary processing and aggregation are completed, the processed data is transmitted to the cloud for further analysis and storage. As the demand for more detailed subsurface insights grows, advancements in sensors, such as seismic and borehole sensors, will generate even greater data streams, making the shift to edge computing increasingly inevitable.
