Biography

. Rabbani completed M. Eng. (Integrated Master’s Degree) in Petroleum Engineering (2014) and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering (2018) from The University of Manchester. His research focuses on advancing the fundamental understanding of multiphase flow through porous media. Utilizing computer modeling, imaging/visualization, and high-performance computing, his research aims to garner key insights into immiscible fluid physics at the pore scale, then scaling up these observations to continuum scales through mathematical formulation to predict large-scale Earth science problems in energy and the environment. Dr. Rabbani’s efforts in collaboration with various top international research institutes have resulted in high-quality peer-reviewed publications in leading scientific journals. Moreover, Dr. Rabbani has been invited to present key scientific findings of his research at various international and national conferences including InterPore, SPE, and EAGE. In addition, he is also serving as a reviewer for top-notch scientific journals.

Biography

Cheng-Hsin Liu is a PhD candidate in Sustainable Energy at Hamad Bin Khalifa University, focusing on carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and advanced numerical modeling in reservoir geomechanics. He holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, where he graduated with honors. His research includes CO2 Water Alternating Gas (WAG) enhanced oil recovery and the application of machine learning in reservoir simulations. Cheng-Hsin has also worked as a research assistant at Curtin University and Gubkin University, contributing to projects on CO2 micro-bubble injection and sustainable energy systems. He is proficient in programming and simulation tools like Python, MATLAB, CMG, and Eclipse, and speaks multiple languages, including Chinese, Persian, English, and Russian.

Maria Elizabeth Sanchez Ho is a Principal Petrophysicist at QatarEnergy with over 25 years of experience conducting diverse and multidisciplinary studies, including data management, surveillance, petrophysical evaluations, and geomechanical modelling, with a focus on carbonate reservoirs. She has led geomechanics studies and is recognized for her ability to integrate complex datasets to optimize reservoir performance and field development.

His core areas of interest are Field Development Planning with special interest in Compositional Simulation and EOR.

Biography

Ahmed Hamza is a research assistant at the Gas Processing Center, Qatar University. He has over 8 years of experience in research and teaching within higher education. He holds a B.Sc. with honors from the University of Khartoum and M.Sc. from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, both in Petroleum Engineering. His research interests include improving conformance control of oil and gas reservoirs, well stimulation, CO2 and hydrogen underground storage, and oilfield wastewater treatment.

A petroleum engineer serves in Beijing Research Center, Aramco Asia, more than 17 years’ experience in application of chemical EOR technology, including performance evaluation of water flooding, study of remaining oil distribution, chemical EOR pilot screening and evaluation, and performance evaluation of chemical flooding. The research topics in recent years focus on core modeling, digital simulation, application of machine learning and deep learning in oil industry, and computational fluid dynamics.

Currently, specializing in production and surveillance as a Reservoir Engineer, focusing on optimizing field performance and maximizing hydrocarbon recovery.

Dr. Osama Massarweh holds a PhD in Sustainable Energy from Hamad Bin Khalifa University and works on enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques. His PhD research focused on the use of surfactants to optimize oil recovery from low-permeability carbonate reservoirs. Dr. Massarweh has published work on EOR, CO2 sequestration, and blue hydrogen production in energy journals. He also holds a U.S. patent for sustainable material development. His research aims to drive innovation in energy sustainability.
