EAGE Student Webinar on Confronting the Challenges of Reappraising Legacy Seismic Data by Michael Westgate

Student Webinar by Michael Westgate

It is often desirable, for various reasons, to revisit old seismic data that are no longer in use. For example, a legacy dataset might overlie an area of renewed interest and reprocessing the line would save time and money by circumventing acquisition of a new line or, at least, further inform the design of a new survey to be acquired. However, simply preparing legacy data for reprocessing can be a technically difficult endeavour. In this course, students will learn of some of the typical challenges faced when reappraising legacy seismic data and how to overcome these challenges using contemporary software such as Globe Claritas and Matlab, as well as some simple case studies.
