Vietnam’s upstream sector is entering an important phase, characterised by maturing basins, under-developed and marginal discoveries, evolving development economics, and significant volumes of legacy subsurface data. At the same time, substantial remaining and frontier potential exists across both offshore and onshore basins.
This pilot symposium provides a focused platform to explore how integrated geoscience, subsurface technologies, data, digital solutions and cross-disciplinary workflows can support better decisions across the upstream lifecycle — from exploration and prospect evaluation through appraisal, field development, production and asset optimisation.
The symposium will examine how operators can better integrate existing knowledge with new technologies and approaches to reduce uncertainty, accelerate decision-making, improve development outcomes and maximise asset value. It will also consider how these capabilities can strengthen the evaluation and positioning of Vietnam’s open blocks and create longer-term subsurface optionality, including CCS readiness.
Drawing on practical experiences from Vietnam and neighbouring countries, the event will highlight realistic and transferable approaches for turning data and subsurface understanding into decisions, development opportunities and long-term value.
Demonstrate how integrated geoscience, engineering, data, and technology can improve decisions across exploration and development
Strengthen the connection between subsurface understanding, development planning and asset value
Reduce uncertainty and shorten decision cycles through integrated workflows and advanced technologies
Improve evaluation and development strategies for marginal, mature and technically complex assets
Unlock additional value from legacy data, existing discoveries and producing fields
Strengthen the technical and commercial positioning of Vietnam’s open blocks and future upstream opportunities
Identify scalable solutions that can be applied across both frontier and mature basins
