Overview of the geological evolution, reservoir deposystems, and plays on a conjugate transform margin
This virtual seminar is a ‘one-stop-shop’ G&G event that offers a broad overview of the geological evolution, structural characterisation, reservoir deposystems, petroleum systems, range of plays, and data innovations from one of the most exciting new oil patches: the Guyana-Suriname Basin. The seminar gives new insights into the subsurface, providing first-hand experience from successful operators, vendors, and technical experts working in the area. We aim to bring together oil and gas industry experts, professionals and academics interested in deep-water petroleum systems from the basin and analogues, such as the northern Gulf of Guinea and east Africa. The seminar will serve as a primer that provides an overview of the regional G&G, delivered by eight experts working in the area. It is seen as a must-attend for new entrants, active technical staff seeking additional breadth, as well as students and academics with a general interest. The seminar is a prelude to the three-day EAGE Conference on Guyana-Suriname Basin in 2022 to be held in Georgetown, Guyana.
Recent discoveries in the Guyanese and Surinamese offshore have drawn significant attention from the industry, from Liza to Hammerhead, Jethro, Joe, Maka Central and Keskesi East with other deep-water drilling underway. This activity has opened oil-prone petroleum systems in at least three different plays within the modern shelfal to ultra-deep offshore domains. The discoveries are in appraisal and development, with Liza now on production. The seminar will feature key speakers to share broader context and global analogues, and to provide a unique opportunity to hear the latest understanding of the Guyana-Suriname offshore G&G.
