Mohd Redhani Abdul Rahman

A PETRONAS scholar, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Geology from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. He attended Advanced Management Programme in Harvard Business School. He joined PETRONAS as a Geoscientist in 1997. Prior to his current role, he was appointed as Head of Portfolio, Intervention and Transition under the President’s Office in 2020. With 25 years of experience in the company, he has also held various other senior management positions. These include Head and Iraq Country Chairman, Head of Basin & Petroleum System, Head of International Ventures and Head of Petroleum Resource Exploration in Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM). He served PETRONAS in Pakistan and Ethiopia in the earlier years of his career from 2002 to 2007.


Angus Rodger

Angus leads Wood Mackenzie’s Asia-Pacific upstream research content and analysis. He is also one of Wood Mackenzie’s global upstream ‘thought-leaders’ and author of leading benchmark analysis of global pre-FID and deepwater projects, upstream decarbonization and the application of CCS. Based in Singapore since 2006, he has 15+ years of upstream analysis, client engagement and business development across Asia-Pacific. He joined WM’s upstream research team in 2008.

He has also participated in a wide range of consulting projects for IOCs and NOCs across the region, including basin and opportunity screening, business development, M&A, and gas monetisation. He has represented Wood Mackenzie on TV, press, hosted podcasts and spoken at multiple conferences, forums & webinars. Prior to Wood Mackenzie, he worked in the upstream industry for five years, covering the North Sea, Africa and Asia. He holds a BA (Hons) degree in Politics with International Relations from the University of Warwick.


Bayu Giriansyah

Over 25 years of working experience in upstream oil & gas industry, highly practical involvement in geosciences & reservoir technology domain, covering both studies and operations in exploration & development projects. Mostly dedicated the works in sustaining the production and replacing the reserves in Kutei Basin. Having 7 years of international experiences in Europe and Africa countries (Nigeria, Congo & Angola), managing multi-national team in Deep Offshore Western Africa exploration and its production start-up. Enriching exposures in operation excellence, multi-culture and partnership environment. As Vice President Exploration PHI, ensuring integrated & borderless exploration efforts in Kalimantan area. Recently responsible as VP Exploration Technical Excellence & Coordination PHE, and currently appointed as VP Existing Assets in Pertamina Subholding Upstream in Exploration Directorate for domestic & overseas assets


Suhaileen Shahar

Suhaileen graduated with BSc (Hons) Geology from University of Malaya and MSc in Earthscience from Durham Univ., UK. She has 24 years experience in the oil & gas industry as a Petroleum Geoscientist, with various past experiences as technical leader and managerial roles in Exploration, PCSB. 


Dr. Pierre Eliet

Pierre has over 25 years of experience working in upstream organic and inorganic growth projects with extensive experience in South-East Asia. Pierre worked with Lundin Energy and Roc Oil with oversight of subsurface projects and growth across both Groups’ Asian portfolios of assets. He served as Technical and Business Development Director SE Asia for Lundin and as GM - Exploration, Geoscience & Business Development for Roc Oil & Director ROC Oil Malaysia. Pierre also previously worked at TOTAL and Cairn Energy in the United Kingdom, India and on new venture projects globally. Over his time at Cairn Energy Pierre was closely associated with the discovery of the Cairn Rajasthan fields in India, and specifically the flagship Mangala field. Pierre holds a BA in Earth Science from Trinity College in Dublin (1991), a PhD in Geology from Manchester University (1995) and certified IDP-C, INSEAD's (International Director’s Programme, 2022).


Faisal Bakar 

Ahmad Faisal has been the Head of Malaysia Exploration for PETRONAS Carigali since June 2022.

Faisal started out in PETRONAS as a geophysicist. He was then appointed as the Executive Assistant to the Vice-President of Exploration and Production before moving to PETRONAS Carigali Brunei Limited. Faisal’s stint in Brunei included tenures as the Geoscience Manager, Technical Head, and Country Head, during which he led the planning, maturation, and execution of a series of highly successful ultra-deepwater wells. In April 2016, he returned to Malaysia to lead the Exploration Portfolio group before moving to North America to establish PETRONAS’ country office in Mexico City. He then became part of the Special Task Force for Discovered Resource Opportunities prior to his placement with Malaysia Exploration.

As head of the Exploration Portfolio group, Faisal led the company’s exploration strategic review, which involved adopting a venture-based perspective instead of the usual block-based approach. More recently, Faisal spearheaded the unique “clustered exploration” approach to prospecting in Malaysia. This innovation resulted in the ground-breaking discovery of approximately 1 Bboe for PETRONAS Carigali in 2023 and enhanced its ability to shape the future of the Malaysian upstream sector.


Azani Abdul Manaf

Azani has over 28 years of solid experience with exposures in G&G technical evaluation, strategic decision making, business improvements and capability building in various technical and managerial roles within PETRONAS.

His career started with PCSB well operations in 1995 supporting exploration efforts in Malaysia. He’d then progressed in various postings in International Joint Ventures, Malaysia exploration projects and MPM’s basin assessment & promotion, where he played pivotal role in strategizing and leading Basin assessment projects involving regional & specialised studies and implementation of experimental derisking applications to support and update Malaysian’s open acreage portfolio for block promotion in 2008-2012.

Co-authored several technical publications documenting the efforts and key findings, he continued on leading Peninsular Malaysia exploration projects for PCSB from 2012-2018 in the efforts to revive exploration activities underpinning production sustainability in the region.

Currently he is the head of MPM’s PSC Exploration Management (PSCEM) who is responsible for leading and strategizing exploration investment in over 60 active exploration PSCs in Malaysia, upholding the Nation's Upstream objectives to maximize value creation from hydrocarbon resources. PSCEM’s main task is regulating, enabling and steering PACs for a win-win strategy and execution which resulted in surge of exploration activities in Malaysia with significant major discoveries in recent times. His team was also involved in many initiatives and improvements on Upstream business processes including the new Governing Standards and portfolio optimisation efforts to better facilitate exploration activities.


Fuji Koesumadewi

Fuji Koesumadewi is an Indonesian who was born in Bandung, West Java. She is the Director of Exploration and Development of PGN Saka from September 4, 2023 until now. She received her bachelor's Degree in Geophysics Engineering in 2004 from Institut Teknologi Bandung, and she also earned her Master's Degree in Geological Engineering from Institut Teknologi Bandung. She has worked with Pertamina as an explorationist for over 16 years and previously served as Vice President of Exploration Regional 5 PT Pertamina Internasional EP. Most of her experience is working in Onshore West Java, Offshore Malaysia, and the Northern East Java Basin.

With a wealth of knowledge, she succeeded in becoming the youngest female VP in the exploration division, Subholding Upstream Pertamina, in 2021. Besides her interest in geophysics of exploration, she is also interested in learning macroeconomics, finance, and corporate culture. Her most valuable time is reading books and spending time with her family. Working and developing her team is one of her passions. The principle she holds dear is the importance of positively impacting others' lives as much as possible.


Jakko van Waarde

Jakko has been working in the oil and gas industry for over 30 years both in exploration and development roles. He played a key role in the breakthrough and integration of 4D seismic interpretation in the 90’s and has been involved in many new ventures, exploration and development projects all over the globe with Shell, Repsol, Cepsa and Total. He is currently the Exploration Manager South East Asia for multi-energy company TotalEnergies, based in Paris, France. Jakko holds an MSc in Geology from the Free University in Amsterdam and the University of Technology in Delft.
