The oil and gas resources of Azerbaijan have made the country famous throughout the world. Azerbaijan is a country which plays an extremely important role in the Caspian and Caucasian regions, particularly in the development of transport infrastructure in the Caucasus and the implementation of energy projects.

The Inner City of Baku along with the Shirvanshah’s Palace and Maiden Tower were selected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. The city has an extensive variety of architecture, ranging from the Old City core to modern buildings and the spacious layout of the Baku port. Baku has an original and unique appearance, earning its reputation as the 'Paris of the East'.

Travelling to Baku

Heydar Aliyev International Airport is located approximately 20 km from the city centre. Several airlines have regular flights into Baku, including Lufthansa, Aeroflot, Turkish Airlines as well as many others.

The average temperature at that time is approximately 17 - 20 degrees Celsius.

Visa

Please note that you may require a Visa for attending the Baku 2019 conference. Consult your local authorities or the embassy whether a Visa is required in your situation. A Visa may take quite some time to acquire, so please make sure to start this procedure well before the conference.
