The hotel is overlooking a Wadi and this waterway and natural reserve is home to about 260 variety of Oman's exotic bird-life during the season and extensive park lands. Built to meet the rigorous LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council, the hotel has 65 solar panels on the roof to heat all the water systems of the hotel. The hotel features the first green wall in Oman where over 2,000 plants and 13 varieties can be seen. This green wall has a fully automated irrigation system with re-circulation water system.

The Crown Plaza is a green-engaged hotel with a mission to reduce carbon footprint by eliminating plastic straws and minimizing the use of plastic packaging of all kinds, among other initiatives. In addition, the Crowne Plaza have taken the below actions:
