To ensure the success of the forthcoming APGCE 2026, and to meet the expectations of the delegates, it is important that speakers adhere to certain standards and guidelines. These are explained in the following pages and you are kindly requested to read them carefully.
As a speaker, you are going to communicate the result of your work. In doing so, you should consider carefully who your target audience are and what is of interest to them.
It should be kept in mind that most delegates are practising geoscientists who expect to leave the conference with new ideas and developments that are applicable in their respective business activities.
Additionally, the amount and detail of information that can be communicated in a 15-minute presentation is very limited. This means that complexities, detailed derivations and involved arguments will fail to reach your audience. Simple statements and illustrations are easier to understand, and these must convey the essence of your presentation.
Each presentation should be limited to 15 minutes. A total of 20 minutes has been allocated for each presentation, comprising 15 minutes for the presentation and 5 minutes for the Q&A session. The Session Chair will facilitate the discussion and manage the Q&A segment.
All presentations must be in English and scheduled timing must be strictly adhered to.
Commercialism
APGCE does not permit presentations that are commercial in tone. A company logo may appear on the first or last slide of the presentation. Company slide templates may not be used. No product names or trademarks may be used. The Programme Committee reserves the right to refuse permission to display any presentation slides considered as commercial in nature.
Registration
All speakers must register for the conference in order to deliver their presentation(s) at the conference. The email regarding registration has been sent out to the speakers. Kindly check your inbox and, if necessary, your spam or junk folder. Should you not have received the said email, please inform APGCE Secretariat at (glm@eage.org).
Cancellations/Withdrawal
Should you be unable to deliver your presentation, or if circumstances require you to withdraw your presentation, please notify us as soon as possible via email (glm@eage.org). Early notification will enable us to make the necessary arrangements and ensure the smooth running of the programme. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.
All speakers (both oral and e-poster) must report their presence to the Speakers’ Desk. We encourage speakers to immediately check-in with us upon their arrival at the conference venue. This is to ensure we have sufficient time in facilitating each speaker prior to their session.
Oral Presentations
A good oral presentation has a clear objective, a well-defined structure and uses clear and simple illustrations.
- Objectives and Structures
Your objective defines what you wish to achieve with your presentation. To achieve a realistic objective, you must consider the characteristics of your audience: their motives for attending your presentation, their interests, their knowledge level and their intentions.
The structure of a good presentation is as follows:
We recommend you make an overview with the estimated timing of your presentation and to prepare yourself for questions from the audience. Rehearsal of your presentation is strongly recommended. Please note that presenting to a live audience can take a little longer than during a rehearsal.
Speakers are required to be present 15 minutes at the designated presentation room before the start of their session to meet with the session chairs.
It is important to adhere the time schedule: 15 minutes speaking time.
Generally, the attention of audience is high at the beginning of a presentation, will decrease and is at its worst about two thirds of the way through. When you reach the conclusion, their attention will increase again. You can help your audience to concentrate by restricting detail to a minimum, using variety in visual aids and tone of voice, maintaining eye contact and by summarising frequently.
Each presentation room is equipped with a data projector and a computer (Windows, PowerPoint and Acrobat Reader), a podium microphone and a laser pointer.
The presentations need to be uploaded onto the network and tested prior to the preparatory meeting; this will be done at the Speakers' Desk.
Oral Session Format
Each presenter is given 15 minutes to present with a 5 minutes of Q&A session to be facilitated by the session chairs. Therefore, you are advised to prepare an 15 minutes presentation to avoid overrunning the session.
Please be informed this is a physical conference and will be held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 16-17 November 2026.
Presentation Submission Guidelines (Oral and Poster)
Please use the mandatory APGCE Presenter Slide Template when preparing your presentation. This requirement applies to both oral and poster presentations.
PPT Submission Deadline: Friday, 21 August 2026 (Please submit your PPT file via email to glm@eage.org). If the size of your file is too large, you may submit/send via WeTransfer or other platforms).
The submitted PowerPoint presentation (PPT) will be reviewed by the Session Chairs of the respective sessions. Should any revisions be required, you will be notified and provided with a deadline for submitting the revised PPT.
Please note that once a PPT has been reviewed and approved by the Session Chairs, it will be considered the final version for use onsite, and no further amendments will be permitted. This is to ensure that all approved presentations are uploaded and readily available for the scheduled sessions. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter.
