First EAGE Workshop on Mobile Shales: Understanding Processes, Imaging, and Risks
7 - 9 October 2026 • Bucharest, Romania
The workshop will bring together researchers and industry professionals to examine how mobile shales form, deform, and influence geohazards across various tectonic settings. Through case studies, new conceptual advances, and modern imaging techniques, we will explore the controls and practical implications of these systems, with a field excursion to the Pâclele Mud Volcanos offering direct observation of active shale mobility. Overall, the event aims to foster collaboration between academia and industry to address open questions and better understand the broader societal impacts of mobile shales.
