Dr. Vasiliki zygouri

Dr. V. Zygouri was born in Athens, Greece, in 1978. She studied geology at the University of Patras during 1997-2002 and carried out her postgraduate studies (MSc and PhD) at University of Patras too, completing (in 2009) her PhD thesis on "Fault interaction and seismic hazard in the East Corinth Gulf"; under the supervision of Prof. I. Koukouvelas. Since 2014 she has been conducting postdoctoral work at the University of Patras. She collaborated with the Geology Department (University of Patras) and the Institute of Geodynamics (National Observatory of Athens) in several projects regarding active deformation in several areas of Greece. She is currently dealing with palaeoseismological investigation of faults in Greece and hazards due to strong earthquakes.

DR. ioannis koukouvelas

Prof. I. Koukouvelas was born in Thiva, Greece, in 1962. He studied geology at the University of Patras graduating in 1984. He carried out postgraduate studies at University of Patras (Geology Department) and completed (1989) his PhD thesis on "Geotectonic Evolution of the Rhodope Zone"; under the supervision of Prof. T. Doutsos. In 1995 he joined the faculty of the Geology Department of the University of Patras. Since 2010 he has been a professor of Geology. He has conducted postdoctoral work at the Stanford University (USA) and St. Marys University of Canada.
