Student Webinar by Steve Purves
Taking your research online with an Open Research Website
In the webinar we will cover:
Why create open access content
How to create and maintain your own Open Research website, easily
Minimalist writing in Markdown
Getting computational content online with Jupyter Notebooks
Organising manuscripts and supporting materials
Getting formal manuscripts out without rewriting your content
The lecture will be in the form of live demonstration with minimal slides. We'll actually go though the points above manually, using some sample content for a small paper and a small thesis or textbook. As data analysis is becoming more and more prevalent across the geosciences we'll also look at Jupyter Notebooks and how to effectively use these in manuscripts and online materials. At the end of the lecture, attendees will be in a position to start using the toolset demonstrated and will have sufficient context to learn more about the tools and writing methods used.
