Ali Tabatabaei

Ali Tabatabaei is Chief AI Officer at AFED Digital, where he builds enterprise AI systems for the upstream energy sector. He has spent over 15 years designing and delivering large-scale digital solutions as a software and solution architect, with a consistent focus on systems built for scale and performance. He has worked on transformation and change management long before either became a boardroom term. His current work addresses the gap between what most organizations call AI and what AI can actually be. He describes three levels of maturity: Takers, who consume AI as it ships; Tailors, who configure and fine-tune it; and Transformers, who build an external brain, a decision support system that carries the organization's own data, workflows, and thought process. Most failed pilots, he argues, are Taker architectures judged against Transformer expectations. He has served as a panelist at the SPE conference in Kuala Lumpur and as a speaker and panelist at OTC Asia.
