Prof. Ir. Benyamin Sapiie, Ph.D. is a structural geologist and professor at the Geological Engineering Study Program, Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB), Indonesia. He earned his BSc from ITB in 1987 and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1998. With over three decades of teaching experience, he has also conducted research at MIT and UT Austin. A prolific scholar with 85+ publications and four textbooks, he is a multiple award recipient from AAPG, IPA, and IAGI for his outstanding contributions to geology.
Over 29 years of working experience in upstream oil & gas industry, deep involvement in geosciences & reservoir technology domain, covering both studies and operations in exploration & development projects. Starting the carrier as Log Analyst in Schlumberger then moved to TotalEnergies. Mostly contributed in sustaining the production and replacing the reserves in Kutei Basin. Having 7 years of international experience in Europe, Canada and Africa countries (Nigeria, Congo & Angola), managing multi-national team in Deep Offshore Western Africa exploration and its production start-up. Enriching exposures in operation excellence, multi-culture and partnership environment. Joining Pertamina group in 2018 as Sr Manager Technology, Geosciences and Reservoir in Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, Vice President Exploration in Pertamina Hulu Indonesia, VP Exploration Technical Excellence & Coordination in Pertamina Hulu Energi. Currently appointed as Vice President of Existing Assets in Exploration Directorate, Pertamina Hulu Energi managing integrated & borderless exploration strategy for over than 60+ domestic & overseas blocks in Pertamina Subholding Upstream.
Carlos E. Vazquez is a Geoscientist Advisor with Halliburton’s Geoscience & Production group, based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. With more than 16 years of experience spanning Latin America and Asia Pacific, he is a trusted technical authority in formation and reservoir evaluation, production logging, well testing, and well integrity analysis across a wide range of reservoir challenges. His expertise covers the full formation testing and sampling workflow, including wireline formation testing (WFT) and formation testing while drilling (FTWD), as well as fluid sampling and pressure analysis. He has also been actively involved in the successful implementation of Xaminer Deep Testing (XDT) across the Asia Pacific region. Additionally, he brings experience in well integrity diagnostics, including cement evaluation and casing inspection using both conventional and advanced technologies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN) in Mexico and is completing an MBA in 2026. Carlos has authored and co-authored numerous technical papers for the SPWLA, SPE, and other industry forums, earning an Honorable Mention at the Oil & Gas Rio Conference 2020. A recognized contributor to the geoscience community.
Currently, Mohamed El-Toukhy looks after global exploration projects, complex imaging projects and MC opportunity generation from inception to final delivery. His long career with Shell splits between geology, geophysics, exploration, production, conventional, unconventional, management and leadership. He worked on a wide range of opportunities in the Middle East, North Sea, Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Canada, West and East Africa and Far East. After evaluating and managing conventional HC opportunities for more than 25 years with Shell, he moved into managing unconventional and EOR resource evaluation and maturation in Canada, US, and Jordan. 30 years of progressive experience with Shell as a geoscientist and project manager of integrated conventional and unconventional exploration, appraisal, and development projects. Successfully executed various projects in different structural and stratigraphic settings, land, shelf, and Deepwater. The geographical working areas cover the Gulf of Mexico, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, North Sea, W-E Africa, Atlantic Margins, Middle East, and Far East. Strategic planning and managing complex and diverse subsurface teams and coordinating large-scale integrated exploration and development projects. Drive strategic new ventures, opportunity ranking and strategic decisions of bid rounds, farm-ins and drilling expensive Deepwater wells. Extensive experience in managing pre-and subsalt imaging and evaluation in GOM, Brazil, North Sea, West Africa, Red Sea and Gulf of Suez. Author and presenter of many papers at international and internal conferences and technology forums. Participated and contributed to Shell and Schlumberger workshops and training events. Winning company awards for leadership, technical excellence and mentorship.
Awang Harun Satyana. A Geologist with 36 years of experience in oil and gas industry, worked for Pertamina, BPMIGAS, and SKK Migas during 1990-2020. During with Pertamina, he explored Kalimantan and Papua. He cooperated with many oil companies exploring all regions in Indonesia during worked for BPMIGAS and SKK Migas. He published more than 200 papers/articles for convention/conference proceedings and journals/periodicals. Awang lectured professional courses in several aspects of petroleum exploration followed by oil companies. He also led fieldtrips to many regions in Indonesia, talked in more than 300 seminars/webinars, gave guest lecturing to many universities in Indonesia. His expertise is in petroleum exploration, regional geology of Indonesia, tectonics and structure, petroleum geochemistry, petroleum system analysis, and carbonate sedimentology. Currently, he works as Independent Geologist giving advisory consultancy for oil companies in exploring frontier areas in Indonesia and G&G studies, talking in seminars/webinars, giving courses and field trips, guest lecturing for universities, and publishing papers of personal researches.
Tad is a Business Development Manager for TGS, covering the Asia-Pacific region, based in Perth. With over 23 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Tad began his career in 2002 at Woodside Energy, spending a decade as an Exploration Geologist. He then joined PGS (which became TGS in 2024), where he held roles as Principal Geoscientist and Sales Manager. Tad holds a Master’s and PhD in Geology from Niigata University, where he researched the Tertiary sedimentary basins of Japan.
Ivan Yulianto, an exploration geologist with 20+ year experience working in oil & gas industry in various projects and researches. His current position is G&G and Geoscience Manager in Eni Indonesia, as well as Subject Matter Expert of Indonesia Oil & Gas Institute of SKK Migas. Ivan Yulianto graduated from Institute of Technology Bandung/ITB (for bachelor and master degree in geology) and spent his earlier career in ITB as researcher. After graduated from Royal Holloway University of London for his master degree in Basin Evolution and Dynamics, he joined ExxonMobil Indonesia (2007-2015) and assigned in Houston, TX-USA (2007-2010). He joined Eni Indonesia in 2015 and worked in various position and areas in Indonesia. His latest research is focus on Biogenic Gas and maximum seal capacity methodology in deepwater Kutei Basin. Ivan was selected as member of Exploration Task Force team formed by the Ministry of Energy of Indonesia in 2022 to support the acceleration of exploration activities in frontier areas of Eastern Indonesia and also serving Indonesian Petroleum Association as technical committee member since 2014. Ivan has published numbers of technical papers.
Ugo De Tulio is Head of Exploration at Mubadala Energy, based in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he leads exploration and new ventures activities across the company’s Indonesian portfolio. In this role, he is responsible for setting exploration strategy and delivering high-impact offshore programmes, including a deep-water drilling campaign that has achieved recent exploration success in the Andaman blocks. He began his professional career in 2007 as a geoscientist with Eni, working across a broad range of exploration settings from onshore to ultra-deep offshore environments. During this period, he developed strong expertise in seismic interpretation, prospect maturation, and integrated exploration workflows. His career includes international assignments in Nigeria, Angola, and Vietnam, providing him with broad exposure to diverse geological settings, basin types, and operational contexts. After eleven years with Eni, Ugo joined TotalEnergies in 2018 and relocated to Singapore. There, he coordinated exploration and new venture activities across Southeast Asia, supporting portfolio growth through regional screening, basin evaluation, and opportunity maturation. In 2021, he joined Mubadala Energy, where he continues to focus on disciplined portfolio management and the execution of complex deep-water exploration and drilling initiatives across Indonesia. Ugo holds a Master of Science in Geology and a Master of Science in GIS and Remote Sensing.
Conrado Climent is an Exploration Manager at TotalEnergies, currently leading exploration activities in Indonesia from Kuala Lumpur. He is an experienced exploration geoscientist and manager with international experience across Europe, North Africa, South America, and now Southeast Asia, spanning different stages of the exploration lifecycle, from frontier exploration to appraisal, as well as portfolio and planning activities. Conrado has held technical, coordination, and management roles within TotalEnergies, including his assignment as Head of Exploration Budget & Program Management, where he supported the oversight of the global exploration portfolio and investment prioritization. Earlier in his career, he built a solid foundation in geophysics and exploration through technical roles at Maersk Oil, Petroceltic, and CEPSA, gaining exposure to multiple basins, play types, and operating models, and working in diverse business and cultural environments. He holds an MEng in Mining Engineering from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), an MSc in Petroleum Geosciences from IFP School (France), and an MBA from the University of Bradford (UK). Conrado combines technical expertise with a broad, cross‑disciplinary perspective, and contributes to mentoring and professional development initiatives within the industry.
