The Workshop on Mobile Shales: Understanding Processes, Imaging, and Risk will bring together researchers and industry professionals to discuss the fundamental controls, structural expression, and practical implications of mobile shale systems, which occur in a wide range of tectonic settings from fold-and-thrust belts to continental margins. The program will integrate case studies, conceptual advances, and imaging approaches, with particular attention to their role in deformation, fluid flow, and geohazards. The workshop will also include a field excursion to the Pâclele Mud Volcanos, providing an opportunity to examine active mobile shale processes in a natural laboratory.
Workshop Aim
The aim of this workshop is to promote discussion between academia and industry to unravel the processes behind mobile shales, explore open questions, and assess their broader implications for society.
