First EAGE Workshop on Fibre Optic Sensing for Reservoir and Production Monitoring

9-11 March 2020 |  Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Coronavirus Update (4 March 2020)

EAGE would like to make clear that we are carefully monitoring the possible impact of any further spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) on all our scheduled events. Our first priority is the health and welfare of the wider EAGE community. Based on the advice of the World Health Organization, as well as appropriate national and local authorities, EAGE has thus far been broadly unaffected by the outbreak, with relatively little disruption to our global operations.

Regarding our Fibre Optics Workshop in Amsterdam, we advise that as of now EAGE will go ahead with this workshop based on the information made available by the WHO and local authorities. We look forward to hosting you at an exciting event!

Please be assured that should anything change regarding the workshop, we will immediately reach out to our attendees.

The WHO has provided a series of guidelines on hygiene that might be helpful for those attending the workshop. You can find these guidelines here: https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public

Statement from our Venue Partner the Casa Hotel Amsterdam

Our venue partner Casa Hotel Amsterdam has provided the following update regarding their procedures regarding the COVID-19 outbreak:

We constantly and fully follow RIVM and GGD guidelines in order to protect our guests and employees in any way we can.

Apart from Hotel Casa following closely and exactly all recommendations of the RIVM – (Governmental body of national health) specific operational measures have been taken as follows:

  • (Additional) disinfectant hand gels (sprays) have been made available throughout the building in all public areas and rest rooms (and are replenished constantly)
  • Signage emphasizing the importance of hygiene and encouraging diligent and frequent use of disinfectant sprays are spread in all guest and employee contact areas throughout the hotel
  • Mandatory hygienic instructions have been shared with all personnel following the RIVM instructions (wash hands with water and soap frequently, cough in inside arm/elbow only, use paper towels)
  • Staff reporting ill or returning from holidays in affected areas are interviewed to perform a risk assessment and are not invited back to work until absence of risk has been confirmed by medical staff
  • Protocols have been put in place in case any virus cases are reported within the hotel. Any guest or employee in the building with doubts of having caught the virus will be interviewed by our (trained) Managers on Duty to identify a potential relation to the virus (cough, fever, respiratory complaints). Our Managers on Duty have clear instructions to put any such person in direct contact with GGD services (Municipal Health Services) who would come to the property to perform an assessment of the virus being present. Our Crisis (Management) Team will be alerted immediately in any such case and all our teams will follow exact instructions of GGD services in terms of isolation or quarantine should any such measures be recommended.
