Anelise Lima

PETROBRAS  

Anelise de Lima Souza is the Coordinator of CO2 Storage Studies and project development in the Exploration and Production (E&P) sector at Petrobras. She holds a degree in Geology and a Master's degree in Geostatistics from the University of São Paulo. Anelise has dedicated the past 15 years to Petrobras, where she has excelled as a Reservoir Petrophysicist and later as the Functional Manager of Formation Evaluation. Anelise plays a key role in building technical capacities and integrating teams to develop Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects, driving innovation and excellence in this critical field. 


Mauricio E. Roitman

Energeia  

More than 20 years of experience in consulting and management in energy regulation and planning, both in the public and private sectors. He was president of ENARGAS and Undersecretary of Scenarios and Project Evaluation of the Ministry of Energy and Mining of the Nation (Argentina). He was also a consultant for the IDB, OLADE, CAF, World Bank, head of consulting at Energy Consulting Services (ECS) and Professor-Researcher at the Center for Economic Studies of Regulation (CEER-UADE). He currently serves as President of the energy trading company Energeia (Energía e Infraestructura S.A.) and, in the academic field, as Deputy Director and Professor of the Master in Sustainable Energy Development and as Professor of the Master in Energy and Environment, in both cases at the Instituto Tecnológico de Buenos Aires (ITBA). His experience in the private and public energy fields positions him as a permanent reference for decision makers in the energy market.
 


Dra. Silvia Barredo 

UBA - Austral 

Dr. Silvia Patricia Barredo is a geologist and PhD in Geological Sciences from the University of Buenos Aires, where she currently serves as a professor and researcher at the Instituto del Gas y del Petróleo (IGPUBA). She also teaches at Universidad Austral and has nearly 20 years of experience in postgraduate education and applied research in Oil&Gas and geothermal energy as well as for both national and international oil companies .

She has led projects on low- and medium-enthalpy geothermal resources for power generation and heating, including geothermal applications in oil wells and urban settings. Currently, she coordinates geothermal surveys in several provinces of Argentina.

Dr. Barredo is co-editor of the Geothermal Systems of South America special issue (Elsevier, 2023) and has authored numerous publications. She has also been recognized by the Society of Petroleum Engineers and WING’s Geothermal Leaders program and by the University of Buenos Aires for her contributions to education and sustainable energy innovation.

   

Cesar Mora 

Kuenka 

Geologist with more than 35 years of experience in petroleum exploration projects. Expertise in petroleum systems modeling, combining basin analysis with petroleum geochemistry, petroleum systems modeling and yet to find evaluation. Exploration geologist in companies such as Ecopetrol and Sipetrol. Director of the Geochemistry Group of the Colombian Petroleum Institute/ICP between 2000-2003.  Since 2004 I have worked as a consultant, first as General Manager of Petroleum Geoscience Technology, from 2005, as Technical Manager of GEMS S.A. and since 2014 as Manager/Founder of KuenKa S.A.S. Guest Professor of Petroleum Geochemistry and Petroleum Systems Modeling in different Colombian universities. Since 2018 he has ventured into the application of petroleum geology and petroleum systems evaluation in topics related to energy transition such as; gas prospectivity, CO2 sequestration, co-production geothermal and natural hydrogen from source rocks.

   

Yury Abreu 

Xcalibur Smart Mapping 

Yury Abreu is a hydrogeology-focused Geologist with over 20 years of experience. His background includes environmental and groundwater consulting for the energy, mining, and environmental sectors, and he served as an advisor to the Colombian Ministry of Environment (2005-2006). He also lectured in hydrogeology for over three years at the National University of Colombia. For the past twelve years, Yury has held managerial and executive roles in various geosciences companies. Since 2014, his focus shifted to the Mexican mining sector, where he successfully positioned 3D geological, geophysical, and environmental modeling software. As the former Country Manager for Mexico at Seequent, he established a robust business network across public and private sectors, making the company the leading geological software provider in Mexico. Since August 2022, Yury has been leveraging this success as the "Business Development Manager for Latin America" at Xcalibur Smart Mapping (formerly MPX Ltd), a leading multinational aerogeophysical company, by replicating his proven business model across the region.

   

Mg. Veronica Tito 

Energy & Sustainability Consultant 

Lawyer and Graduate in Public Relations. Master in Energy Management and specialist in Oil and Gas Law and Environmental Law. Diploma in Public Policies for the Sustainable Development of the Sea, in Integral Management of Climate Change and in Hydrogen Management.

Consultant in Energy, Environment and Sustainability. Between 2020 and 2024, she worked as legal and regulatory consultant to the National Secretariat of Energy on oil & gas and energy transition issues. Between 2011 and 2019 she was Provincial Director of Legal Affairs of the Secretary of Energy and Hydrocarbons of the Province of Tierra del Fuego and Assistant Secretary of OFEPHI (Federal Organization of Hydrocarbon Producing States).

Graduate professor at various academic institutions (UCA, Universidad Austral, CEARE, among others). Author of various technical papers on offshore and unconventional hydrocarbon activity. In 2022 she published the book "The exploration and exploitation of offshore hydrocarbons in the Argentine Republic. Its legal framework: opportunities and challenges.

   

Pablo Ferragut 

Arpel 

   

Pablo Ferragut is an economist with over 15 years of experience in energy, climate change, sustainability, and energy transition across Latin America and the Caribbean.

He currently serves as Managing Director at ARPEL, where he leads the natural gas and corporate sustainability areas. Throughout his career, he has led projects and teams focused on enhancing the performance of oil and gas companies in various fields.

Among his most notable achievements is the creation of the regional Natural Gas Stakeholders’ Dialogue platform, in collaboration with the International Gas Union (IGU) and the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE). He also spearheaded the publication of the white paper “The Role of Natural Gas in the Transition to Low-Carbon Economies – The Case of Latin America and the Caribbean,” which provides a strategic sectoral perspective on the role of natural gas in the energy transition and has made a significant contribution to the international energy dialogue.

In addition, Pablo teaches economics, energy, and climate finance at the Buenos Aires Institute of Technology (ITBA), and has authored various studies and publications on energy and climate policy for different organizations in Uruguay.


Santiago Ferro 

ANCAP

   

Santiago Ferro is the Energy Transition Manager at ANCAP, overseeing the Exploration & Production (E&P), Green Hydrogen, and Bio-Energies business units. He specializes in the technical and economic evaluation of energy projects and contracts and has received training in Petroleum Policy and Resource Management from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.In his previous role as E&P Administration and Contracts Manager, he contributed to the design of the fiscal regime and managed the Uruguay Rounds. These efforts resulted in the signing of numerous E&P contracts offshore Uruguay, attracting over US$1.5 billion in exploration expenditures at risk by the private sector and generating over US$55 million in income for ANCAP. He is a member of all managing committees for the contracts currently in force on behalf of ANCAP.

Diana Comte 

University of Chile

   

Dr Comte has led numerous scientific projects focusing primarily on seismotectonics, seismic tomography and seismic hazard in various regions of Chile and Peru. She is the author of 87 articles in indexed international journals, with over 3,120 citations across 2,120 articles.Her research focuses on reducing the scale of passive seismic tomography to the district and mine scale to define the three-dimensional structure of intrusive bodies associated with mineral deposits. She is currently leading a project on geological hydrogen prospecting in the Chilean Altiplano.At AMTC, she leads research into the exploration, characterization and modelling of deposits and directs projects on consolidating seismic tomography as a technology for identifying and characterizing potential exploration targets at brownfield and greenfield scales. She also works on developing knowledge and technologies for remotely monitoring tailings deposits. In December 2021, she was recognized in the Innovation category by Women in Mining Chile.


Felipe Penin   

Seiche

 

Felipe Penin is a Biologist with a Master's degree in Animal Behavior (Psychobiology), he brings 20 years of extensive experience in marine mammal research and impact mitigation. Since November 2024, he has been serving as a Business Development Consultant for Seiche in South America, while also continuing his work as an Environmental Mitigation Project Coordinator.For the past decade, he has excelled as a Project Coordinator, proficiently implementing and managing teams of PAMs (Passive Acoustic Monitoring) operators and MMOs (Marine Mammal Observers). His solid background as a marine acoustic technician encompasses the maintenance, preparation, and functional testing of equipment, and he even contributed to the development of PAM equipment by constructing hydrophone arrays.His research contributions include work as an Associate Researcher at the Humpback Whale Institute (IBJ Brasil), where he focused on population estimation, area use (photo-identification), and bioacoustics for the Guiana dolphin population in the Caravelas River estuary. He has also played a fundamental role in impact mitigation projects within the oil and gas industry across South America, Central America, the United Kingdom, Europe, and Africa, serving as both an MMO and PAM operator.Highly skilled in the mobilization, demobilization, maintenance, and software configuration of PAM equipment, he possesses comprehensive technical and practical knowledge in this area. He also has experience in training PAM operator teams, having been responsible for the first technical PAM course offered in Brazil. Furthermore, he is proficient in developing environmental studies and diagnoses for environmental licensing and has a strong grasp of current hardware and software used in PAM and photo-identification projects.
