Joakim Blanch has a M.A. and Ph.D. from Rice University as well as a M.Sc. from Uppsala University and has published on several topics within Geophysics.  He is currently employed at BHP, is an adjunct professor at Rice University and Assistant Editor of the journal Geophysics. In his role at BHP he is designing seismic processing projects and seismic surveys.  Among current research interests are fast seismic modeling and seismic inversion for Earth properties such as velocity, density, and Q.
