Advances in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) technology have allowed for the expansion of imaging and remote sensing techniques in both traditional and new applications. In recognition of this emerging technology the EAGE is organizing this workshop on UAVs to explore the potential application of these platforms to the energy industry, mineral exploration and environmental studies. We will focus on platform technology, remote sensing, automated image analysis and processing, 3-dimensional modelling, sensor and communication technology, European civil aviation regulations and specific application to geoscience and engineering disciplines.
This three-day workshop will feature presentations, panel discussions, field demonstrations, and networking opportunities bridging expertise in the UAV community and geoscience and engineering disciplines. Attendees will see presentation from E&P operators, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle professionals, academia, and technology suppliers that will focus on different components of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle systems. A special focus will also be made on existing and emerging UAV regulations in Europe as a support for this new business.
