About the event

GEOPHYSICS IN ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES’21
Russian-European Workshop

This event aims to bring together researchers from Russia and Europe to tie together these communities. In addition to the thematic sections, the seminar includes an interactive conversation on the development of relations between the European and Russian communities, which is especially relevant for young professionals.

Thus, the work of the seminar is carried out in four areas. We keep time for an open discussion about global challenges and ways to solve these problems within each section.

This event aims to:

•  Agriculture & Ecosystems

Soil and plant interactions, Tree trunk inspection, Drainage systems, Productive Soils, Wetlands

Permafrost & Water

Monitoring and Modelling of: Groundwater-Surface interaction, Soil moisture, Unsaturated Water and Solute Flow, Thawing and Freezing Cycles, Effects of Permafrost on Soil Productivity

•  Landforms and geohazards

Long-term and short-term geological processes: ancient and active faulting, landslides, and other hazards; Landscape formation and development

•  Special section «Breaking the barriers»

An interactive workshop digging into:

- How to build effective and lasting collaborations between Russian and European geophysical research communities;

- Tapping the potential of 'Open Science' in geophysics (collaborative codes, open database development, etc.)
