For decades, advances in subsurface imaging technologies have been at the core of our business. These advances are expected to continue. New digital technologies are now having a huge impact across most industries and impacting all our daily lives - automation, robotics, artificial intelligence (AI) and cognitive technologies will change how work gets done. These changes are happening very quickly. The purpose of this session is to discuss which new technologies will impact geoscience and engineering the most and how they will shape the way we work.

The session will run for 2.5 hours as a moderated session with 4-6 panellists. The first half of the session will begin with each panellist providing a five-minute introduction followed by structured questions from the chairperson and from the audience using app technology.

Discussion topics include:

  • Subsurface imaging and interpretation
  • Data storage, searching and analytics
  • Automation and robotics
  • AI and cognitive systems
  • New working models
