Third international conference on Geology of the Caspian Sea and Adjacent Areas Field Trip
The Third international conference on Geology of the Caspian Sea and Adjacent Areas in Baku will include an exciting a geological field-trip to the famous Kirmaki valley with Pliocene rock outcrops and to mud volcanoes and Paleocene rocks outcrops.
The field-trip is set to take place on the last day of the conference, the 18th of October 2019.

Kirmaky Valley is unique outcrop, where Lower Productive Series layers exposed on the surface. Thick section of Productive Series (Pliocene) was formed as interaction between closed lacustrine basin and a large river system. The purpose of the field trip is to demonstrate sand-shale succession, deposited in different environments: fluvial, lacustrine, eolian. The trip attendees will see the old had dug oil wells on Kirmaky hill, where oil has been extracted for centuries.
