Third international conference on Geology of the Caspian Sea and Adjacent Areas Technical Programme

The third international conference on Geology of the Caspian Sea and Adjacent Areas aims to promote discussion and knowledge sharing on the different aspects of Caspian Sea regional geology, basin and reservoir modelling and on its related technological innovations, hydrocarbon reservoir and field studies, best practices, integrated approaches and applications in new fields. The conference will also be a ground for triggering collaboration amongst Caspian Sea regional geologists and professionals of other subsurface and related disciplines.

The conference will include sessions on the following topics:

  • The results of new regional studies on the Caspian Sea and adjacent basins according to geophysical data of recent years;
  • Sedimentation basin modelling;
  • The results of geochemical surveys and oil and gas content prediction;
  • Justification of source rock complexes;
  • The results of paleogeological studies;
  • Features of reservoir properties of rocks by area and vertically;
  • Features of the predictive assessment of oil and gas basins;
  • Structure, formation of reservoirs and traps, geochemistry of rocks and fluids, oil and gas potential;
  • Environmental issues in work production within the search and development of oil deposits.

Technical Programme

The conference will include a three-day technical conference on 16th October - 18th of October at Baku Fairmont Hotel and a geological field-trip to the famous Kirmaki valley with Pliocene rock outcrops and to mud volcanoes and Paleocene rocks outcrops (registration and payment onsite) on the 18th of October 2019.
