Max Velasques holds a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and a Master’s degree in Geophysics from the Colorado School of Mines. He has been working at Petrobras since 2006, where he built a solid career as a geophysicist.Max began his professional career in Seismic Data Acquisition, participating in several onshore seismic surveys across different Brazilian basins. He later transitioned to Seismic Data Processing, playing an important role in major exploration projects. Between 2010 and 2018, he served as coordinator of seismic processing projects for the pre-salt province in the Santos Basin, one of Petrobras’ most strategic exploration areas.Since 2020, Max has been leading the Geophysical Data Processing Management at Petrobras, with overall responsibility for the company’s seismic processing activities. His current role involves overseeing a large portfolio of complex processing projects focused on new exploratory frontiers as well as on the monitoring of post-salt and pre-salt producing fields—areas that represent major technical and strategic challenges for the company.
