First EAGE/SUT Workshop on Integrated SiteCharacterization for Offshore Renewable Energy

22-23 May 2024 / Boston, Massachusetts

Meet our Keynote Speakers

Elizabeth Dewing Andrews

Currently Project Director for Avangrid’s Kitty Hawk Wind projects, Betsy has worked on multiple offshore wind projects around the globe with 12+ years in the industry.  A graduate of Brown University and University of Southampton, UK, Betsy has a PhD in Maritime Archaeology. She brings leadership experience in engineering, permitting and geophysical & geotechnical surveys to projects from origination through to operations and maintenance.  She is passionate about the offshore wind farm industry and striving to bring value and efficiency to projects.

Zachary Finucane

Zach Finucane has been working in the US Offshore Wind industry since the earliest days, leading the foundation design team for the Block Island Wind Farm in 2014, the Skipjack foundation package in 2018, and Ørsted US’s Foundations, WTG, and Certification team in 2021. Finucane recently joined Wood Thilsted, taking over the role of Country Manager following the retirement of industry trailblazer Matt Palmer. Raised in Vermont, he spent the first 12 years of his career working for Keystone Engineering in New Orleans, LA but now lives in Annapolis, MD with his wife, 2 boys, dog, and guitar collection.

Haibin Di

Haibin Di is a Senior Data Scientist in Digital Subsurface Solutions at SLB based in Houston, working on deep learning solutions for subsurface interpretation with applications to oil & gas field exploration and new energy site characterization. He has authored about 100 journal papers and conference proceedings. Prior joining SLB in 2018, Haibin was a postdoctoral fellow at Georgia Institute of Technology from June 2016. Haibin currently serves as an Associate Editor for Geophysics, Geophysical Prospecting, and IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Letters.

Maarten Vanneste

Maarten Vanneste, Ph.D., is a Technical Expert within Geosciences, Geohazards and Ground Modelling with more than 25 years of experience from academia and industry. After completing a Ph.D. in Ghent, Belgium, he was a post-doc researcher at the Arctic University of Norway in Tromsø, before moving to the Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) in 2006, where he currently leads the Geohazards & Dynamics section within Offshore Energy. His main interests lie in the multi-disciplinary use of data-driven integration of geophysical, geological, and geotechnical information into quantitative ground models for offshore wind developments (e.g., Ten noorden van de Waddeneilanden, Baltyk II and III, Empire Wind, UKX, Dogger Bank, etc.). He combines his skillsets in geophysics (seismo-acoustics, shear waves, surface waves, converted waves), geology, modelling and programming to develop state-of-the-art results and tools for societal applications. His extensive experience will ensure consistency and high-quality deliveries aligned with previous work done in TNW and IJmuiden Ver. He chairs various international conferences on near surface geophysics (e.g., EAGE and SUT) and is a core member of ISO 19901-10 (Marine Geophysical Site Investigations). He has an extensive publication record, and is peer-reviewer for various journals and R&D funding agencies globally.
