Director of Geophysical Imaging Department, Aramco Exploration
Dr. Aiman M. Bakhorji is currently the Director of Geophysical Imaging Department at Aramco Exploration, where his department focuses on advancing seismic acquisition, processing, imaging, quantitative seismic, rock physics, borehole seismic, and AI-driven geophysical solutions. His team is also the sole entity utilizing the Dammam-7 supercomputer for developing and utilizing advanced seismic imaging algorithms and AI solutions.
Dr. Bakhorji holds an MSc in Geophysics from the University of Tulsa and a PhD in Geophysics from the University of Alberta. With over two decades of dedicated service to the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), he has been recognized for his contributions, including the SEG Middle East Region Award in 2022. Notably, he served as the co-chair of the prestigious IMAGE 24 convention in 2024 and is active member of SEG, EAGE, AAPG and SPE. In the past two decades he has chaired several SEG, SPE, EAGE, IPTC, GEOS, MEOS & DGS conventions, workshops and conferences.
Chief Technologist for the Geophysics Technology Division, Aramco EXPEC Advanced Research Center
Abdulrahman is the Chief Technologist for the Geophysics Technology Division at Aramco’s EXPEC Advanced Research Center. He is responsible in leading the development and deployment of innovative geophysical technologies for Aramco. The technologies he spearheaded have been awarded prestigious international awards such as the World Oil Awards, the ADIPEC Award, and the Special Meritorious Award for Engineering Innovation. Abdulrahman obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Geophysics from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), his Master’s degree in Earth Sciences and Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and PhD in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology. He has authored/co-authored over 30 journal/conference papers, disclosed over 10 patents, and has authored a chapter in the newly published “Geophysics and Energy Transition” book.
