First EAGE Online Seminar on Gas Exploration in Latin America

28 -29 April 2022 | Online

MEET THE KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Daniel Rodriguez

ANH

Geologist from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and MSc. in Exploration Geophysics from the University of Leeds, with experience in exploration and development of hydrocarbons.

He has worked with the Technical Vice-Presidency of the ANH for three years in the competitive processes of area allocation, identifying prospective areas through the use of 2D and 3D seismic and well information. During the last two years he has focused his efforts in the study and acquisition of information in the Colombian Caribbean, describing possible opportunities associated with gas chimneys and the development of reservoirs in the subsea deposits of the Magdalena River in the Colombia Basin. He is currently working with the technical vice-presidency in the planning of studies and projects that may reveal the hydrocarbon potential of the Colombian Pacific.

Eliane Petersohn

Assessora de Diretoria - ANP

Eliane Petersohn has undergraduate degree in Geology (BS) From Federal University of Parana and master’s degree in exploration geology from the same university. She also has postgraduate studies in regulatory law at IBMEC - Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets. Ms. Petersohn joined Brazilian National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in 2006 as a geologist. In 2010 she was appointed Chief Geologist, becoming responsible for the selection and geological evaluation of the areas for oil and gas bidding rounds in Brazil. In 2019 she became upstream advisor to the board of directors, being responsible for providing guidance and technical insight to support the BOD decisions on public policies and regulations. Ms. Petersohn has spent the past 15 years working on the ANP’s large-scale strategic projects, conducting geological evaluation for bidding rounds and developing a multiyear geological and geophysical plan for the agency. She was responsible for coordinating the first phase of the onerous assignment process, which authorized the Brazilian Federal Government to onerously assign to NOC Petrobras up to 5 billion barrels. Ms. Petersohn was also directly involved in the location of two wells, which discovered two of the country's largest oil fields (Buzios and Mero fields).

Karyna Rodriguez

Searcher Seismic

Karyna is a Petroleum Geoscientist with 30 years of multidisciplinary technical experience in global exploration-inclined projects. She possesses diverse experience from her time at PEMEX, BG and other major oil companies, including regional seismic interpretation, amplitude anomaly and sequence stratigraphic play analyses, prospect generation, integrated reservoir characterization field studies and prospect volumetric and chance evaluation. She has also worked closely with high level management, helping to optimize their strategic portfolios. She currently works at Searcher as part of a high performing team dedicated to identifying, pursuing, and realizing new ventures to support efforts in optimizing exploration for oil and gas in mature and frontier basins around the globe.

Santiago Ferro

ANCAP

Master’s in petroleum engineering, Texas A&M University, USA; MBA at ORT University; Chemical Engineer, University of the Republic. Scholarship holder for the course “Oil Policy and Resource Management” given by PETRAD in Stavanger, Norway.

Santiago is ANCAP's Head of Administration and Contracts, Exploration and Production. He has worked on the design of the fiscal regime, contract model and bases of the call, as well as in the management of the Uruguay Round, with the result of 10 areas awarded in the offshore of Uruguay and + 1200MMUS $ of investment in exploration. He worked in the negotiation and conclusion of multi-client contracts, which have represented profits for ANCAP of + 35MMUS$.

He has evaluated upstream projects for ANCAP or PETROURUGUAY, mainly in Argentina, Venezuela and Uruguay, and collaborated in the design of the oil fiscal regime and contract models in countries such as Panama, El Salvador and Jamaica. Additionally, he is Associate Professor of the Industrial Project Chair at the University of the Republic.

Santiago is the author or co-author of publications at SPE, AAPG and SEG conferences and has presented exploration opportunities in Uruguay in the main world oil centers. He is a member of the AIQU, AIPN and the SPE.

 Jamshid Gharib

FUGRO

Jamshid ‘Jim’ Gharib runs Fugro’s Global Centre of Excellence for Seep Studies, an interdisciplinary group focused on the study and exploration of fluid migration systems in the marine environment. This group has mapped and interpreted over 3 million km2 of seafloor, more than any other seafloor mapping or surveying entity on the planet.

Dr. Gharib has extensive experience acquiring and interpreting marine geophysical and seabed geological, biological, geochemical, and geotechnical samples.

His doctorate work specialized in marine geology and geochemistry, focusing on deep fluid and mineral migration at subduction zones.

Now at Fugro, the world’s largest commercial provider of geo-data solutions, his current research and consulting interests include the geochemistry of hydrocarbon seeps, hydrothermal vents, and submarine volcanoes, and the integration of geophysics and geochemistry to explore and characterize frontier areas of the ocean. He has been an author on over 80 publications for both academia and industry journals.

 Kyle Reuber

ION

Kyle Reuber, PhD. is a geologist for ION’s Team based in Houston.  His primary area of focus is Latin America and the Caribbean.  Kyle’s remit primarily consists of designing ION SPAN programs and regional interpretation projects that integrate the regional 2D -SPAN and available reprocessed vintage datasets.  Kyle earned his Bachelors of Science degree in geology from Wright State University and a PhD from University of Houston.  Kyle has most recently been awarded the “2019 Best Paper award from the SEG Interpretation Journal” and the “2019 Grover E. Murray Best Published Paper Award in the GeoGulf Transactions Volume.”
