Chris Walker

Chief Geophysicist

BGP Offshore

Dr. Chris Walker received his BSc degree in quantum physics (1972) from the New University of Ulster, N. Ireland and his PhD (1977) in marine geophysics from Durham University, UK. With more than 45 years of oil industry experience in marine survey and source design, marine field operations, data processing and R&D, since 2002 his primary focus has been on establishing ocean bottom surveys as the primary industry technique for both development and exploration.

David Hajovsky

Executive Vice President, Multi-Client

TGS

Bringing over 15 years’ experience in the energy sector, David leads TGS’ global multi-client strategies and initiatives. David joined TGS in 2017 as Director of Business Development in Western Hemisphere. David is a US citizen and currently resides in Houston, Texas.

Peter Hanssen

Equinor

Dr. Peter Hanssen studied physics and geophysics at the Technical University of Berlin, where he obtained an MSc in neural networks for seismic inversion. After working at the GFZ Potsdam he started his PhD on sub-basalt imaging at the University of Edinburgh while based at the Edinburgh Anisotropy Project. Peter continued his work on seismic imaging of the Atlantic Margin at the British Geological Survey, before moving to Norsk Hydro's research centre in Bergen, Norway, where he worked on sub-salt imaging using additional gravity data from AUVs. He began research into passive seismic exploration using surface waves from microseisms, before overseeing the development of the “Deep Blue” electromagnetic system as a team leader at Statoil. Peter was the Task Manager for geophysical instrumentation and acquisition and led the work on more environmentally friendly seismic sources such as the BASS marine vibrator. He is now the head of geophysical research department at Equinor, and automation for environmental-friendlier geophysical acquisitions is his passion.

Diego Chagas

Petrobras

Diego is a master geophysicist at Petrobras with a degree in Physics from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ). With 20 years of experience in the petroleum

industry, he was the creator and coordinator of the Geophysics Acquisition Operations Center. Today, he works as Reservoir Manager of Libra Asset, has an MBA in business management from FGV and is also a member of the SBGf’s board.
