 "A Personal Perspective on the Evolution of Seismic Inversion"

Arild Buland is Head of the Geophysical Methods and Analysis department at Equinor. Over a career spanning 35 years, he has worked at the interface between geophysics, statistics, and subsurface decision-making, first in research and development and for the last 15 years in a range of technical leadership and management positions. In addition to his industry career, he has held Adjunct Professor appointments in Geophysics and Mathematical Statistics at the University of Stavanger for 15 years. His contributions include the development and application of Bayesian seismic inversion and uncertainty quantification for exploration and reservoir characterization.
