HAFIZ J. ALSHAMMERY
VP, Prospect Portfolio Developement
Hafiz is the Vice President of Prospect Portfolio Development in Saudi Aramco Exploration. In this capacity, he is responsible for actively managing portfolios of prospective conventional hydrocarbon resources in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through the alignment of exploration, risk/investment decisions and a focus on business strategy implementation. Hafiz has 25 years of experience in upstream exploration and development having worked in different technical and leadership roles that include seismic data acquisition, processing, prospect generation, reservoir characterization as well as unconventional resource exploration and development.
Along with his leadership in Saudi Aramco, Hafiz was also a board member in the upstream joint venture; Sino Saudi Gas, Ltd. Hafiz has a BSc in Geophysical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, an MSc in Geophysics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and completed management programs including Advanced Management in Wharton, University of Pennsylvania.
MOHAMMED A. AL DUHAILAN, PhD
Director of Exploration Resource Assessment, Aramco
Mohammed is the Director of Exploration Resource Assessment in Saudi Aramco. He has been with Saudi Aramco since 2001 with leadership experience in Upstream that covers conventional and unconventional resources exploration and appraisal. He has a BSc in Geophysics from the University of Tulsa, MSc in Geophysics from the University of Calgary, and holds a PhD in Petroleum Geology from Colorado School of Mines.
Mohammed is a former President of the Dhahran Geoscience Society. He is a DGS-Distinguished Lecturer with many published papers and Conferences proceedings. He is a recipient of the AAPG EMD’s President’s Award for Excellence in Presentation, and honor society for International Scholars.
Frans S.P. van Buchem
Frans is a geoscientist with 30 years of technical as well as leadership experience in global exploration and production projects. As a strategic thinker, integrator and respected international stakeholder manager, he is known for promoting the application of innovative technologies and new concepts while maintaining a strong focus on excellence and fit for purpose delivery. Frans possesses expert knowledge of basin analysis and sequence stratigraphy of carbonates and source rocks as documented by a strong track record of publications in leading professional journals. Whether as team lead, colleague, excursion leader or keynote speaker, he has imbued many with his contagious passion for geoscience.
