EAGE Workshop on Induced Seismicity
19 - 21 April, 2027 | Amsterdam, the Netherlands
From the first EAGE Workshop on Induced Seismicity to the latest incarnation of the workshop, the understanding and management of induced seismicity has remained an important challenge for industry, regulators and local communities. Advances in seismic monitoring, geomechanics, modelling and data analytics continue to improve our understanding of induced seismic events and their underlying mechanisms.
What has been consistent throughout the workshops has been a desire to investigate, discuss, and share practical experiences and scientific developments that contribute to a better understanding, assessment and mitigation of induced seismicity.
The workshop aims to explore the latest developments in the monitoring, modelling, understanding and mitigation of induced seismicity. Particular attention will be given to the relationship between subsurface operations, geomechanical processes and seismic response, and how multidisciplinary data can support safer and more effective decision-making.
The workshop will also provide a venue for emerging ideas, technologies and future trends, including advances in seismic monitoring, microseismic analysis, numerical modelling, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as approaches for assessing seismic risk and developing effective mitigation strategies.
Specialists from energy operators, service companies, technology providers, regulators, academia and research organisations will come together to exchange insights on the latest developments in induced seismicity. We encourage oral presentations and posters covering monitoring, modelling, geomechanics, seismic hazard and risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
Beyond traditional oil and gas applications, we welcome contributions from geothermal energy, carbon storage, hydrogen storage, mining, hydraulic fracturing and wastewater injection, as well as other subsurface activities where induced seismicity presents a technical or societal challenge.
This event is organized with the essential support of the technical committee members. The Technical Committee is composed of industry specialists within the event topic's area.
