COVID-19 Travel & Entry Requirements


To make attending to the First EAGE Guyana-Suriname Basin Conference as easy as possible, we compiled an overview of things you need to know before and during your travel.

Traveling to Guyana 

Passengers are no longer required to complete the Passenger Locator form as an entry requirement for Guyana effective March 22, 2022.  All other entry requirements remain in effect as follows:

Testing: A negative COVID-19 RT-PCR or Rapid PCR test or Antigen test result, taken within 72 hours of arrival time is required for all travelers prior to arrival.  

EXEMPT -Children below 2 years DO NOT require PCR or Antigen test. Incoming passengers whose Antigen or PCR SARS-CoV-2 test results exceed 72 hours from the date it was taken are required to have a repeat Antigen or PCR test upon arrival to Guyana. Passengers who are required to be retested shall bear the financial cost at the testing facility, located at the airport.

Quarantine: Nil (Vaccinated Travelers)

Documentation:  Proof of full vaccination required. No Portal registration is required. No Passenger Locator form is required.

Note: Fully vaccinated also includes persons who have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus fourteen days to three months ago. In this instance, a “certificate of clearance” from a medical practitioner stating the relevant results of their positive test and being free from complaints is required. Vaccination exemptions shall be applicable to Passengers who are advised against being vaccinated for medical reasons must present a “Letter of Exemption” from a licensed medical practitioner.

Waivers/exceptions for vaccination and covid testing can only be granted by the Guyana Covid Task Force, travelers will be issued with an approval letter which must be presented prior to check-in.

Health Screening: All travelers are subject to health screening. All incoming passengers must undergo a temperature check by the Port health Officials. Passengers who record a temperature above 37.5C (99.5F) or who appear ill and/ or display some symptoms of COVID-19 shall be further evaluated by Port Health, The Ministry of Health reserves the right to require testing of any person regardless of the documentation presented or any other requirement, obligation or condition associated with their assigned risk category.
