The field trips listed below are scheduled for the afternoon on our last conference day. 

As part of our programme, this excursion will be included in your registration. Additional information, including the exact departure and return times, will be communicated to you shortly. 

Field Trip 1 

Campus Geothermal Well at the TU Delft 

 Wednesday, 4 October 2023 13:30 - 16:00

 At the TU Delft campus we will visit a unique showcase of the on-going research of geothermal energy used as a clean energy source. The aim is to produce heat which will be supplied to the TU Delft campus, including the DUWO student residences and a later stage, expand the supply of heat to the neighbour inhabited districts. 

Field Trip 2 

Energy Cave - Rijswijk Centre for Sustainable Geo-energy

On entering the Energy Cave, we will descend through the visually designed strata of the earth. For every meter you descend the stairs, you  descend one kilometer into the earth’s crust. Around you, you can read about the layers of the earth and see through which layers you drill when you make a borehole. Once you have descended all the way into the Energy Cave, we will learn the RCSG’s specialty: drilling wells, that are so necessary to provide us with sustainable energy from earth.
