"Constrained: how what we can measure affects our inversion objectives"
Patrick Connolly is a consultant geophysicist specialising in seismic reservoir characterisation. He retired from BP in 2015 as Senior Advisor for Geophysical Analysis. His primary occupation now is providing training courses for the industry. He is also a Visiting Lecturer at the School of Earth & Environment, University of Leeds, UK.Patrick was awarded the 2001 SEG Virgil Kauffman Gold Medal for the development of elastic impedance. He was an EAGE Distinguished Lecturer in 2007, an SEG Distinguished Lecturer in 2010 and his presentation Probabilistic seismic inversion using pseudo-wells was awarded the 2017 SEG Best Paper at the Annual Meeting

"Estimating elastic and reservoir properties by Bayesian seismic inversion"
Heidi Kjønsberg is a Senior Research Scientist at the Norwegian Computing Center, where she has worked for fourteen years on statistical modeling of geology in petroleum reservoirs. During the last seven years her main interest has been in Bayesian seismic inversion. She is currently the manager of the research and development consortium Geophysical Inversion to Geology (GIG), hosted by the Norwegian Computing Center. The consortium’s goal is to develop algorithms to analyse seismic data and calculate the probability for detecting subsurface sedimentary rocks and their properties. Heidi holds a PhD in theoretical physics from the University of Oslo.

“Probabilistic approaches for seismic reservoir characterization: computational efficiency, uncertainty quantification, and anisotropy challenges”
Dario Grana is a professor in the Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming, where he holds the Wyoming Excellence Chair and is the Director of the Bayesian Learning Consortium. He received a Ph.D. in Geophysics at Stanford University in 2013 and a MS in Mathematics at University of Pavia, Italy, in 2005. He worked four years at Eni Exploration and Production in Milan. He joined the University of Wyoming in 2013. He coauthored the books “Seismic Reservoir Modeling” in 2021, and “Seismic Reflections of Rock Properties” in 2014. He is the recipient of the 2022 SEG Outstanding Educator Award, the 2017 EAGE Van Weelden Award, the 2016 SEG Karcher Award, and the 2014 Eni award with Gary Mavko, Tapan Mukerji, and Jack Dvorkin for “pioneering innovations in theoretical and practical rock physics for seismic reservoir characterization”. His main research interests are rock physics, seismic reservoir characterization, geostatistics, data-assimilation, and geophysical inverse problems.
