Welcome from the Technical Committee
The pre-salt carbonate play, offshore Brazil is a proven world-class resource with current production regularly exceeding of 2.8 million barrels of oil equivalent per day. Opportunities to access pre-salt E&P are highly coveted, attracting the attention of both national and international energy companies. However, recent exploration drilling activity suggests that there is still significant uncertainty in understanding the pre-salt petroleum systems on both sides of the South Atlantic.
In Brazil, there is a strong focus on pre-salt field development activities. Here, additional challenges exist; operators must acquire appropriate subsurface data and be successful in developing innovative and integrated technologies that deliver safe production in a timely manner. Critical is the need to implement low carbon solutions while enhancing recovery factor, and the role of digital initiatives cannot be understated with respect to optimizing value capture.
The 3rd EAGE Pre-salt Conference will build on the positive legacy set by the previous events; providing a collaborative forum for professionals in the energy sector to discuss state of the art research, best practice and opportunities across the following technical themes:
