South America is a leading jurisdiction for the mining industry, providing several critical raw materials to the world, containing abundant strategic geological resources, and attracting one of the highest foreign direct investments in exploration in recent years. In a complex global economy scenario, complemented by decarbonization compromises and socio-environmental-led decisions, mining faces many challenges as a crucial industry for world development. To accomplish the goals for a greener future, including connectivity, transportation, and energy generation, the supply of some critical minerals needs to be secured.
The Third EAGE Workshop on Mineral Exploration in Latin America is about the Latin American mineral exploration industry getting together to discuss local and global trends in resource exploration. It includes technical, academic, Environmental, Social, and Governance - ESG trends in the industry and how they are practically applied in this specific region.
This workshop will provide insight into how Latin American governments are investing in geoscientific data and generating policies to promote the exploration of critical minerals and how exploration companies use cutting-edge technology and software to increase the chance of discovering mineral deposits in the future.
The workshop is open to stakeholders in the Latin American mineral exploration industry. It includes mining companies, prospectors, explorers, government agencies (geological surveys mines/mining ministries), academics, and mineral exploration service providers (contractors, equipment manufacturers, and software providers).
It will provide the following value for participants: 1) The ability to network face-to-face with peers in the Latin American exploration industry; 2) Access to up-to-date technical content(geophysics & geology) focused on mineral exploration in Latin America; 3) Get to know mining prospects and ongoing exploration in the Andean region, 4) Round table discussions on exploration industry topics, led by subject matter experts.
Overall, the Third EAGE Workshop on Mineral Exploration in Latin America promises to be an informative and engaging event that will provide attendees with valuable insights into the role of mining in the energy transition.
