MEET OUR KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Dr. Stephen Edwards

Minerals & Mining, CGG, UKHazard Centre, UCL, UK

Is an Earth and environmental scientist with almost 40 years of teaching, research and knowledge exchange experience in geology, natural and environmental hazards and associated risk management, responsible management of natural resources, and field investigation. He has led pioneering collaborative partnerships to reduce environmental and social risks from natural and mining hazards. Since 2012, his activities have focussed on South America, particularly Bolivia and Chile. He is now committed to understanding, communicating and reducing risks associated with the resource demand driven by the energy transition.

Hernan Rivas Herrera

South America Exploration - Teck Resources

Chilean geophysicist with more than 15 years of experience. Throughout his career he has been linked to mineral exploration projects in different types of deposits in South America, hydrogeological studies, exploration and support to the extraction of lithium brines among others, being part of teams in geophysical services companies as well as the exploration team and support in mining companies. He is currently part of Teck Resources in the Exploration team, where he is a member of the Geosciences group supporting mainly the exploration activities in Chile.

Anibal Gajardo Cubillos

SERNAGEOMIN

During his 50-year professional career dedicated to Industrial Rocks and Minerals, he has been a geologist at the Geological Research Institute, Consultant Geologist for national and foreign institutions and companies, Academician and Professor at the Geology Department of the University of Chile, and geologist at the National Service of Geology and Mining (SERNAGEOMIN), where he has conducted numerous studies of mineral resources and held positions of technical leadership and representation in international research programs, and currently as Editor.

He has written more than 200 papers in Books, Journals, Serial Publications, and Proceedings of national and international Congresses; he has given courses and seminars for national and foreign academic and professional institutions, he has been a Guest Lecturer in universities, Geological Surveys, and events of national and international category, in America and Europe, he has also integrated Official Missions of the Chilean Government in Australia and New Zealand.

He was a member of the National Lithium Commission, appointed by the President of the Republic Michelle Bachelet; in his honor, the International Mineralogical Association named the mineral Gajardoite, and he has been awarded the National Geology Prize "Medal of Merit Juan Brüggen" by the Chilean Association of Geologists.

Andre Rabelo

Xcalibur Multiphysics

Is Business Development Manager – Latin America. Graduated from University of São Paulo (USP) in 1994, and with a university degree in Geophysics at Geophysics and Astronomic Institute (IAG). He started his career working as field geophysicist in Brazil by 1996. Later on, He worked as a ground field geophysicist and Ground Operation Manager at Fugrowithin 2001 to 2008, providing geophysical surveys for the mining industry: IP,TDEM, BHEM, Magnetic and Radiometric, being involved in all aspects of geophysical survey cycle: project planning, Data Acquisition, Q&C, Data Processing and Interpretation. Since 2008 until present, He has been working as Business Development Manager(BDM) in Latin America region for the airborne geophysical divisions of Fugro Airborne, CGG Multiphysics, and Xcalibur, currently based in Ontario, Canada. He has been responsible for providing geophysical solutions for a wide variety ofMineral, O&G and Country Mapping projects, for the private and government sectors, encompassing cutting-edge airborne geophysical technologies, customized data integration and inversion workflows.

Dr. Mohammad Ayaz Alam

Academic, Department of Geospatial and Environmental Engineering. Teaching and research on water, environment, planning and land use, geothermal energy, volcanology, lithium, rare earths. He is a result-oriented professional with a comprehensive record of top-notch performance in academic as well as corporate environment. Lyndon W. Jay Huffington

Energy Transition Observatory -Universidad Externado de Colombia

Lawyer from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, PhD candidate in Economics, Business and Law from the University of Almeria, Spain. Master in Law and Development from the University of Melbourne, Australia, as a scholar of the Universidad Externado de Colombia, Colfuturo Colombia and the International Bar Association IBA. Specialist in Administrative Law and Mining and Energy Law from Universidad Externado de Colombia. Research professor at the Universidad Externado de Colombia, he has published several research articles on the energy mining sector and transversally on the components of environmental and social sustainability. He is a member of the Institute of Mining, Energy and Petroleum Regulation, accredited by Colciencias, the Iberoamerican Association of Energy Law (ASIDE) and the Iberoamerican Association of Regulation (ASIER).

Felipe Espinoza González

Servicio Nacional de Geología y Minería - Sernageomin

Senior professional with 20 years of experience in geological research in Chile and in leading multidisciplinary teams in the public sector. Master and PhD in Sciences, mention in Geology, Universidad de Chile. Extensive field work experience in regional geological survey projects (as responsible researcher or co-investigator) in studies of volcanic systems in northern and southern Chile, with emphasis on exploration of Cu-Au systems in the Antofagasta region, whose results have been published in international journals and national publications. Management trajectory in the National Geology and Mining Service (2007) as head of the General Geology Department and responsible for the National Geology Plan (2014-today), and Subrogating National Deputy Director of Geology (2018-2019), forming and guiding high-performance multidisciplinary teams.
