Diego Arosio (MSc 2005, PhD 2010) is an associate professor of Applied Geophysics at Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia. He has been grant researcher, invited speaker and lecturer in the field of Applied Geophysics at Politecnico di Milano and lecturer at the University of Kerman (Iran). He has been visiting scientist at the BAM Institute (Germany) and at GroundProbe (Australia). His research interests concern geophysical techniques for civil protection and environmental issues and are now mainly focused on passive seismic methodologies.
Dr Sanjay Rana is a geophysicist by profession. He has been working in the field of engineering geophysics for last 31 years. Dr Rana graduated in 1990 from University of Roorkee, now IIT Roorkee, in M Tech (Applied Geophysics), as Gold Medallist. Dr Rana started his career with UP State Government and also worked briefly as Scientist ‘C’ with Department of Atomic Energy. He became an entrepreneur in 1995, starting first ever engineering geophysics company in private sector in India.
He has been instrumental in starting full-fledged operations in private sector providing services like seismic refraction, ground penetrating radar, electrical tomography, seismic tomography, Microgravity, magnetic etc. He has carried out geophysical investigations for more than 2000 projects including projects in India, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Nepal, Bhutan, Kuwait etc.
Victor Mocanu is a geoscientist with professional interests in both Physics of the Earth and Applied at the University of Bucharest in Romania. He has a MSc in Geophysics (1985) and a PhD in Geology (1996) from the University of Bucharest, with post-doctoral studies at Oregon State University in the US. With a deanship of 12 year in Bucharest and being a founding dean of the Postgraduate School of the Botswana International University of Science and Technology, he was also deeply involved in organizing and managing the higher education in Geosciences. President of the Romanian Society of Geophysics, Council member of SEG and EAGE and former Chair of the Global Advisory Committee of SEG, he strongly believe in collaborative activities between professional associations, tertiary education and industry as a key of success in advancing during these difficult time. Victor is a specialist in Geodynamics with long-term projects in Central-Eastern Europe, North and South America and SE Asia.
Moreover, he is also interested in applying geophysical investigation and satellite geodesy tools on near surface subjects lice stability of dams, monitoring the over-exploited mines and archaeological investigations. Victor is teaching under- and post-graduate courses in theoretical and applied geophysics and is deeply involved into industry-academia partnerships.
