The Deliberate Quest for Migration Losses: Optimizing CO2 Storage Security

Alex is a Research Science Associate in the Gulf Coast Carbon Center. His current work focuses on the application of petroleum exploration processes to the problem of finding, de-risking and developing geologic storage sites for CO2. Prior to joining the BEG, he spent 16 years in global exploration with BP, including roles as an Advisor and as Head of Discipline for Structural Geology and Tectonics. In his time with BP, he worked over 50 basins on 5 continents and wrote and delivered over 100 courses in exploration, structural geology and tectonics. He holds a BA in Physics from Williams College and a PhD in Structural Geology and Tectonics from the University of Arizona.

Linda Stalker

Senior Principal Research Scientist

CSIRO

It’s a Numbers Game – Geoscience Contributions to a Net Zero Future

Dr Linda Stalker obtained a BSc. (Hons) in Applied Geology (University of Strathclyde, Scotland) in 1990. She studied petroleum geochemistry of CO2 in oilfields for her PhD at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. In 1994 she joined the University of Oklahoma (USA) to study organosulphur compounds trapped in coals. From 1996 she worked in petroleum E&P at Statoil, in Norway, including 2 years on the Sleipner Field. She joined CSIRO in 2000 and has held numerous management positions while maintaining research expertise in hydrocarbon E&P and carbon storage research. She is currently a senior principal research scientist and GISERA State Leader for WA, SA and Vic.
